18-Year-Old Charged With DWI After 2-Car Crash: Police
The crash took place early Saturday, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested after a two-car crash that resulted in injuries on County Route 51 early Saturday, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the crash took place at about 12:30 a.m. Southampton Town Police patrol units and community response units responded to the southbound lanes of County Route 51, in the vicinity of Speonk Riverhead Road, police said.
Upon arrival, officers observed one driver with serious physical injuries and a second driver with minor injuries, police said.

New York State police and Suffolk County police assisted with closing down the roadway for investigation, police said. Southampton Town police detectives as well as the New York State Police Department's crash reconstruction team responded to investigate.
The investigation revealed that one of the drivers was traveling northbound on County Route 51 when the vehicle left the roadway, crossed over the median and stopped in the southbound lane, police said. The second vehicle was traveling southbound and struck the stopped vehicle, police said.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, Angel Camarillo, 18, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment and released on an appearance ticket for a future court date, police said. The second driver refused medical attention, police said.
