Local Fire Departments Elect New Chiefs; Set to Hold Commissioner Races

Elections will take place in Hampton Bays, East Quogue and Westhampton Beach from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Last week, area fire department volunteers voted toΒ elected new fire chiefs and on Tuesday, they are asking the community to help them select new fire commissioners with the only contested race in Hampton Bays.Β 

Hampton Bays

Last week, the Hampton Bays Fire Department membersΒ William Hutchison as chief,Β Tom Gorman asΒ 1st assistant, Bowman Prendergast as 2nd assistant chief andΒ Chris Hansen as rd Assistant Chief.

Vying in the commissioner race, which will be held from 6:00 p.m to 9 p.m at the main firehouse on Montauk Highway isΒ incumbent Gerard M. Buckley II and challenger Christopher Langstorf.Β 

Westhampton Beach

Last week, volunteer firefighters re-elected John β€œChip” Bancroft as chief and Ross Donneson, William β€œBo” Overton, and Bill Dalton as assistant chiefs. Also, Halsey Stevens, Thomas Glover, Mauro DiBenedetto, and Nancy Lynch were selected as captains and John Cable, LarrySaccente, Robert Cooke and Tom Betjemann were chosen asΒ lieutenants.Β 

Vying in the uncontested commissioner race isΒ Dean H. Culver, who is seeking a five-year seat. Voting wil take place at the main firehouse, located atΒ 92 Sunset Ave., Westhampton Beach, from 6:00 p.m. to 9 p.m.

East Quogue
Elected as chief by the East Quogue Fire Department last week wasΒ Bill Potter as chief Β andΒ Scott Davonski andΒ David Kohler as assistant chiefs.

On Tuesday, incumbent Aaron Sacks is vying forΒ five-year term with voting set to take place at the East Quogue Fire Department, 465 Montauk Ave., from 6:00 p.m.Β to 9 p.m.
