Man Charged With Felony DWI After Hampton Bays Traffic Stop: Police

The Riverhead man was arrested Sunday, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested Sunday and charged with felony driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place in the vicinity of Canoe Place Road at 2:29 a.m. Darwin Gustavo Villa Guichay, 32, was stopped for traffic infractions and found to be intoxicated, police said.

VillaGuichay was arrested and charged with two counts of DWI, both felonies, along with one count each false personation, a misdemeanor; second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; circumventing an interlock device, a misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was held overnight at Southampton Town police headquarters for morning arraignment, authorities said.
