Man Stole 2 Bicycles Worth $1.7K From Quogue Home: Police

The stolen bicycles were found, police say.

QUOGUE, NY — A Shirley man is facing a felony charge after stealing two bicycles from a home in Quogue, police said.

According to Quogue Village Police, on Wednesday at about 8:53 p.m., a report came in about a fourth-degree grand larceny. The complainant told authorities that an unknown person entered their private residential property on Meadow Lane, in the Village of Quogue and stole two bicycles valued at about $1,700, police said.

Quogue Police detectives launched an investigation and, after gathering substantial evidence at the scene, and from various available resources, were able to establish a suspect, police said.

On Friday at about 10:17 a.m. a man was arrested at Quogue Village Police headquarters after an interview with the detective and assigned sergeant, police said, The defendant was identified as Omar Chalco Prado, 37, police said. He was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a Class E felony, and was released on an appearance ticket to appear at 9 a.m. on September 15 at Quogue Village Justice Court, police said.

The stolen bicycles were located and are pending release to the legal owner/complainant, police said.

The case is still under active investigation, police said.
