Police Searching For Truck That Struck, Killed Man In LI Hit-And-Run Crash Sunday Night

The driver fled the scene, police say.

MANORVILLE, NY — Police are asking for help to find the vehicle they believe struck and killed a pedestrian in Manorville Sunday night Authorities said they believe the vehicle was a 2009 to 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck, possibly maroon or red in color, with front-end damage.

Earlier on Tuesday, police identified the man killed in the hit-and-run crash on August 31 as Michael Barnhardt, 54, of Manorville.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on Country Route 111, north of Chapman Boulevard, at 8:33 p.m.

Barnhardt was walking across County Route 111, north of Chapman Boulevard, when he was struck by a motorist who fled northbound from the scene, police said.

He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
