  1. Numbers of COVID-19 hospitalizations are increasing on Long Island and now Nassau and Suffolk's seven-day positivity rate is the highest in New York State at 9.32 percent. Nassau and Suffolk reported 3,973 new cases on Sunday, with a total of 24 confirmed omicron cases on Long Island. (News 12)
  2. The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons partnered with Bideawee to address the feral cat population on the East End. On Dec. 9, Bideawee's Westhampton facility held the first monthly spay/neuter clinic. (Patch)
  3. Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard is giving away 200 Christmas trees for free to families in need or anyone who wants a tree. (Patch)
  4. Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone has appointed Risco Mention-Lewis as Suffolk's Acting Police Commissioner. She has been deputy commissioner since 2012 and is the first Black commissioner in the county's history. (Patch)
