Student musicians from Beach Street Middle School's seventh and eighth grade band and orchestra dominated this year's Music in the Parks Competition on May 5. The interstate music competition, which is attended by tens of thousands of students from across the country, was held at Dorney Park. More than 90 Beach Street students attended. The seventh and eighth grade band, under the direction of Steven Smith, took first place with a superior rating for the Division 1A Middle School Concert Band competition. The seventh and eighth grade orchestra made out just as well,  under the direction of Miss Lynnette O'Hanlon, receiving first place with a superior rating for the Division 1A Middle School String Orchestra competition. The musicians also earned two overall ensemble trophies.
