The Town 4 Tommy Labetti Memorial Fund will hold a<a href="https://westislip.patch.com/groups/around-town/p/memorial-fund-created-for-thomas-labetti" rel="nofollow"> fundraiser event</a> Friday night at 7 p.m. at the West Islip High School on the JV soccer field. The memorial fund was established in memory of the West Islip teen who was killed after he was hit by a SUV while riding his bike on Udall Road on September 11, 2012. The 15-year-old suffered severe head trauma and spinal injuries and succumbed to his injuries two weeks later. The fund, called "Town 4 Tommy Memorial Fund," will be used to recognize a West Islip student, as well as help out local charities and promote bicycle safety awareness in Labetti's honor. According to fund organizers, biking was a favorite hobby of Labetti's, along with basketball, paintball and hanging out with friends.
