The Early Years Institute, a regional nonprofit organization based in Plainview, has launched a new family-friendly website to assist parents in selecting the best recreation options for their kids.

PickaPark.org features an online inventory of the nearly 700 town, county, state and national parks throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. The information can be searched by zip code or by specific family-friendly amenities recommended by parents.

Among those 700 are Casamento Park and West Islip Marina, which include playgrounds and sports fields.

Things like rest rooms, children’s playgrounds, stroller-accessible paths, and refreshments are just a few of the various search options on the PickaPark site.

The PickaPark.org online inventory contains detailed descriptions and photographs of the parks and preserves and is accessible via mobile devices.

“PickaPark.org was created because parks and open spaces provide the richest learning experiences for children, improve the health of children and families, revitalize communities, and create future stewards of the environment.” says EYI’s President Dana Friedman.
