Lions outscore Lindenhurst 10-1 in the second half en route to 17-6 win.

In what was a nip-and-tuck battle through the first half turned into a rout as West Islip defeated Lindenhurst 17-6 Tuesday in the Lions final home game of the regular season.

Following a spirited first half in which the two teams traded goals through most of the first 24 minutes, West Islip outscored the Bulldogs 6-1 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

West Islip (13-0, 14-1) was led by Brendan Smith’s six goals and eight total points, while Tom Moore chipped in with three goals and two assists. Smith has been on a goal-scoring tear recently having found the back of the cage 17 times over the past three games.

The Lions finish the regular season on Thursday at Connequot. A win would guarantee West Islip the top seed in the Suffolk County Division I playoffs.
