UPDATED: HS Turf Field Vandalized
Police investigating whether incident was a hate crime.

Suffolk police have confirmed Monday morning that the turf field at West Islip High School was vandalized over the weekend.
Police say that profanity was spray-painted across the middle of the field sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Police are currently investigating whether it was a hate crime but will not release the details as to what was written.
Local sources tell Patch that in addition to the field, other high school property was damaged.
