Suffolk police have confirmed Monday morning that the turf field at West Islip High School was vandalized over the weekend.  Police say that profanity was spray-painted across the middle of the field sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.  Police are currently investigating whether it was a hate crime but will not release the details as to what was written.  Local sources tell Patch that in addition to the field, other high school property was damaged.  Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
