It’s a busy week in West Islip, highlighted by Friday's student blood drive, WI Hoop Club's annual fundraiser and library events.  

Here's a look at several events going on:

Tuesday, Jan. 24

There's a WIIT Council Meeting from 3-4 p.m. at the library.  Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to discuss ideas with Teen Librarian Jenn Fowler for upcoming programs, what events and items you would like to see at the library, and much more.

Wednesday, Jan. 25

The High School PTSA meets tonight at 7 p.m. at the high school. 

Cafe Mojo is holing their weekly Pubstumpers Trivia Night.  Answer as many questions as possible and you can potentially win gift certificates to be used toward the night's bill or future visits.  Games start at 7 and end around 10 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 26

WIIT Teen Council is hosting an Open Mic Night from 7-9 p.m. at the library.  Students can call ahead to reserve a time slot.  Refreshments will be served (open to all students in grades 7-12). 

The Board of Education will conduct a planning session at 7:30 p.m. at the district office (Beach Street). 

Friday, Jan. 27

West Islip High School seniors are hosting a blood drive in the girl's gymnasium from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. One of the students running it said they're hoping to get a bigger turnout than last year, so everyone make sure to stop by.  

Saturday, Jan. 28

The WI Hoops Club is hosting their annual fundraiser at Farrell's of Brooklyn from 3:30-7:30 p.m.  Residents can have access to great food, music and drinks for $10.  Also, The Ed Travers Band will provide live entertainment.
