Weekend Planner: Christmas at Sagtikos Manor, Sandy Fundraiser

Members of the community are invited to join the West Islip Chamber of Commerce during their dedication ceremony of a new 9/11 Memorial. The ceremony begins Saturday at 8 a.m. at the corner of Higbie Lane and Paumanake Avenue. A complimentary breakfast will follow at Farrell's of Brooklyn.

Parents in the community can pick up donated sports equipment for their kids through Operation Grand Slam on Saturday. Donations will be distributed to those in need free of charge at Kirdahy Elementary from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Step back in time and take a tour of Sagtikos Manor, decorated for the holidays. Tours are held every 15 minutes on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. Afterwards, enjoy a hot beverage and cookies.

Catch St. John The Baptist's drama production of "The Odd Couple" on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Come down to the Nutty Irishman of Bay Shore and who have suffered at the hands of Hurricane Sandy at 2 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds will go to United Way's "Sandy Recovery Fund" for Long Islanders affected by Hurricane Sandy. Event includes a free buffet, 50/50 raffle and prizes. This is a family friendly event, featuring popular music from the music from the 60s and 70s with four great bands.
