The West Islip School Board of Education will hold its montly meeting on Wednesday at 8 p.m. The meeting will take place at the West Islip High School auditorium. In addition the BOE's usual business, the board will adopt to 2013-2014 budget. School officials are currently looking at potential cuts as they grapple with a $1.7 million budget gap in order to meet the state's mandated tax cap. Among the major items up for consideration is shifting to an eight period day at the middle school level and implementing two furlough days in the 2013-14 school year.
