West Islip Schools To Present Proposed Capital Reserve Projects

If approved, the funds would be used for the completion of air conditioning in all buildings, replacements of building fire alarms.

WEST ISLIP, NY — The West Islip School District will hold a meeting next month to review its upcoming capital reserve vote.

On Thursday, January 5, 2023, district administration will present the projects up for the community’s consideration.

The vote will take place on January 24, 2023, at West Islip High School in the gymnasium from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The proposed plan includes utilizing funds not to exceed $8.4 million from two of the district’s community-approved capital reserve funds. Since the funds have already been set aside in the capital reserve for these specific projects, there will be no additional increase to the tax levy, the district said.

If approved, the funds would be used for the following projects: the completion of air conditioning in all buildings, replacement of building fire alarms and BMS (Building Management System) controller upgrades.

The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Beach Street Elementary School.
