2012 White Plains Independence Day Celebration

Mayor Thomas M. Roach and the City of White Plains Recreation & Parks Department today announced the details of the City’s Annual Independence Day Celebration.

This cherished White Plains tradition will take place on Thursday, June 28th from 6:00 – 10:00 pm with a rain date scheduled for the same hours on Friday, June 29th.

The free event will once again be held at White Plains High School on North Street.

Residents are encouraged to come early, bring blankets and chairs and enjoy a fun-filled evening of music, games, entertainers, food and fireworks!

This year’s celebration will feature a wide variety of entertainment including a performance by Back to the Garden on the main stage, with music from the Woodstock era. Children and families will enjoy musical entertainment by Mark Rust, a visit from the Animal Embassy, Lisa and company, the Miz Liz variety show, and even the Spinning Bee Frisbee Showcase as well as the YoYo man, Ken Spano, in the Kids Corner. Inflatable Party Adventures will offer inflatable rides for only $2.00 each.

Soul food, pizza, fried dough, ice cream, burgers and more will be offered by a variety of different vendors. Ben & Jerry’s will provide free ice cream as one of our sponsors.

Of course, the White Plains Independence Day Celebration wouldn’t be complete without fireworks. After the flag is officially welcomed and presented, the show, presented by International Fireworks, will begin.

The sky will be illuminated with a spectacular display and spectators big and small are sure to be amazed.
