Patch Reader Announcement: Help City Get Grant to Improve Hartsdale Avenue Entrance to Greenway

Dear Friend of the :

I was informed today that the City of White Plains is submitting a grant application to the Hudson River Valley Greenway to finance improvements to the Hartsdale Avenue entrance of the White Plains Greenway

Improvement and extension of the Greenway are among the goals of the White Plains Sustainability and Enhancement Committee, of which the White Plains Historical Society's former President, Jack Harrington is a member.

Many of you history and railroad buffs also know that the Greenway runs along the former right-of-way for the New York, Westchester & Boston Railway.  http://nywbry.com/

This is all very good news, however, the application is due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19.

If you are so inclined, I urge you to prepare a letter in support of the grant application, and send tomorrow via e-mail to:

Linda Puoplo with the City of White Plains lpuoplo@whiteplainsny.gov; and/or directly to the Greenway at hrvg@hudsongreenway.ny.gov

I have attached (PDF) a model letter similar to the one sent on behalf of the White Plains Historical Society.

Please feel free to customize as you desire. Thank you for your consideration and continued support.

Sincerely,

White Plains History
