Arrest After Burglar Caught In The Act By Business Owner Watching On Security Camera: Police

The overnight burglary came to an inauspicious end, when police were alerted a trespasser at the downtown White Plains office.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A White Plains business owner who saw something very suspicious on a security camera helped foil a burglary, according police.

Around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, White Plains police received a call from the business owner who reported that there was an unknown person in his business place removing computer devices. The caller told police he was watching the crime unfold live via remote camera.

Police rushed to the scene and set up a perimeter around the building.

The suspect, 31-year-old Edgar Duarte Ramos was taken into custody by ESU and patrol officers in the building lobby as he was attempting to exit. Ramos was in possession of burglar's tools when taken into custody and stolen items were recovered, according to police.

He was charged with burglary and possession of burglar’s tools.
