'Avoid The Area': Partial Parking Garage Collapse Near The Westchester Mall

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A parking structure adjacent to the Westchester shopping center has partially collapsed, according to White Plains Public Safety.

Authorities say that emergency operations are now being conducted in and around 44 South Broadway. Both fire and police departments are assessing the partial collapse within an area of the parking garage, according to authorities.

The response has forced several road closures in the immediate ares. Police are asking the public avoid the area while the response continues at the scene.

White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David E. Chong said that first calls about the collapse started coming in a 9:08 a.m.

"There are no fatalities, and there are no injuries," Chong said.
