Brian Carter Band Jazzes Up Lunch Time Crowd in White Plains Thursday
The Brian Carter Band played in front of the Renaissance Plaza on Thursday, June 20, 2013 as part of the White Plains Recreations and Parks Department's "Noon Day Concerts on the Plaza" series.
Missed seeing the Brian Carter Jazz Band stirring it up over at the Renaissance Plaza in White Plains Thursday afternoon?
No need to worry. There’ll be plenty of chances to see them in the coming weeks. Carter and his band were the third band scheduled for the city recreation department’s “Noon Day Concerts on the Plaza” series.
The series will feature a new band every Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. through Sept. 5. This year’s sponsor is the White Plains-based law firm of Markhoff and Mittman.

“White Plains is like my favorite city and they’re adopting me,” Carter, who resides in New Rochelle. “I’ve been getting a lot of love from White Plains. I got this gig playing the lunch series and last year in September they gave us gig.”
Carter, who plays the drums, was joined Thursday by guitarist Takeshi Ogura, a Bronx resident who can seen playing at Red Hat by the River in Irvington; bassist Scott Fragala, a White Plains resident; and trumpeter Courtney Johnson, of New Rochelle.

Carter’s band is playing a fundraiser at Roasted Peppers in Mamaroneck Saturday for the Kevin Lee Bass Scholarship Fund. Carter is also one of the organizer of the annual New Rochelle Jazz Festival, which takes place July 13-14.
