Crunch Fitness Offers $10 Membership Until Friday

White Plains’ newest gym, Crunch, is offering a month-to-month membership for $9.95 until the end of the month, this Friday. The gym opened in the beginning of May, but parts are gated off due to zoning issues, according to a sales representative there.

The $9.95 membership includes fitness classes. In June, the fee goes up to $19.95. There is also a $20 sign up fee right now, normally a $59 fee.

Crunch is located on the second floor at One North Broadway, White Plains. Enter off of Main Street and use the elevator with the Crunch sign (other elevator banks won’t let you off at the second floor).

Crunch’s machines are brand new but do not include built in personal televisions. However, fitness fans can watch one of several large flat screens mounted on the walls as they enjoy the cardio machines. There is no towel service at Crunch. The gym allows members to bring a guest any time they want for free.

Fitness classes are 30 minutes long and participants are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the class begins in order to get a ticket to join, it is first come first served. The Yoga Body Sculpt and Belly, Butt and Thighs Bootcamp classes this reporter recently tried provided a good workout in the 30-minute time frame and lived up to their names. The instructor was motivational and tough but changed sets and moves enough to keep participants working and sweating without getting bored. In case you do get bored easily, the group fitness room looks out onto Main Street, a busy road with a lot of foot traffic to watch as you work out.

Some have a misconception that Crunch is a women's gym, but it is not. There are plenty of men and women who have already become members of the White Plains Crunch.

Crunch started in New York City in 1989 as an aerobics studio and now there are locations world wide. Their website reads:
Headquartered in New York City, and co-owned by New Evolution Ventures (NeV) and private-equity firm Angelo Gordon, Crunch serves over 200,000 members with both corporately owned and franchised locations (Crunch Essential) in cities throughout the U.S. and in Australia.
