Entergy Day of Golf; Brian Scott McFadden to Perform in White Plains; Alzheimer's Walk takes Place Sunday



TODAY: The White Plains School board meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. Officials plan to discuss the French American School of New York proposal and traffic issues the plan might cause if it's approved. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the district office building at 5 Homeside Ln. in White Plains.

TODAY: The Music Conservatory of Westchester in White Plains is hosting its first Community Music Week from Sept. 23-28. The event, which takes place on its campus on 216 Central Ave., will give families an opportunity to tour the school; observe music classes as they’re being taught; and join an instrumental ensemble, musical theatre class or chorus, and register for fall classes on the spot. TUESDAY: The Entergy Day of Golf is scheduled to take place Tuesday at the Westchester Hills Golf Club from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with cocktails, dinner, awards and raffles scheduled to take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Business Council of Westchester invites residents to spend a day with more than 120 of Westchester's top business and community leaders while playing 18 holes of golf on the beautiful, private course of Westchester Hills. The event costs $375 for each golfer, $125 for the get gold ready business seminar/clinic, and $100 for the dinner and raffle. Register here.

WEDNESDAY: The second annual Lyme Research Alliance Lyme Community Informational Evening and reception to be held at Mercedes-Benz of White Plains on 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25. The event, entitled "What You Need To Know About Lyme Disease," will give Westchester residents the knowledge and tools to fight back against the silent epidemic of tick-borne disease, a potentially devastating, but mostly preventable family of diseases. The format will be a cocktail reception hosted by Mercedes-Benz, followed by a 30-minute briefing by two experts on Lyme disease.

THURSDAY: Archbishop Stepinac High School will open its doors to the community for an admissions information night on Thursday, Sept. 26, to discuss the Catholic high school process. The information session, which takes place 7 p.m.in Stepinac’s gymnasium, is open for anyone to attend, but will focus on parents of 8th grade boys and girls. Stepinac High School is located at 950 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains

FRIDAY: Actor/comedian Brian Scott McFadden is having a live taping for his television comedy special Friday, Sept. 27 at the White Plains Performing Arts Center, located at 11 City Pl. in White Plains. There are two opportunities to see McFadden: 8 pm and 10 p.m.is one of the hottest stand up comics working today. Tickets are available for $20 and $30 and are available here. McFadden has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, appeared on MTV, NBC and Comedy Central and is a regular in Las Vegas and clubs all around the country. His vocal talents have been heard in such films as Ice Age II with Ray Romano and Robots with Halle Berry & Robin Williams.

SUNDAY: The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Westchester and nearby area residents to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
