One day when First Lt. Patrick Murphy was stationed in Afghanistan, he received a surprise delivery: 10 cases of Girl Scout cookies.
Murphy, who served with the US Army New York National Guard, divvied up the delicious treats among his company. The special care package meant so much, the Yonkers resident—now back in the US—wanted to personally thank the people responsible.
"Their hard work is actually going to soldiers and good causes and we really do appreciate everything that they're doing for us," Murphy said Saturday in Valhalla while chatting with Girl Scouts who were packaging the goods for this year's Operation Cookie Drop.
