Health Advisory For Hudson River Still In Effect

Sewage is no longer being released into the river, and the health department is taking samples to determine when the advisory can be lifted.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The health advisory for the Hudson River will remain in effect at least through Thursday morning.

Westchester County Department of Health officials said that swimmers and recreational boaters should still avoid contact with the Hudson River — between Peekskill and Yonkers — because partially treated sewage was released into the river earlier in the week.

Officials said that sewer main repairs have been completed on a 30-inch force main break in Tarrytown, and sewage is once again being fully treated. Partially treated sewage is no longer entering the Hudson River, they said.
