Cake Boss

Buddy Valastro star of TLC’s “Cake Boss” and “The Next Great Baker” will be signing copies of his book at Chef Central on 45 South Central Ave.Tuesday. Book signing numbers will be given out at 3:30 p.m. The Q&A session starts at 6:30 p.m. Signing will take place after that. Check back with Patch for coverage of the event.

Two Tigers Honored

White Plains varsity football players will be honored at the Westchester chapter of the National Football Foundation award banquet Jan. 27 at Westchester Country Club. Michael Trapp has been selected to be on the 2010 Golden Dozen Scholar Athletic Team and Brian Warager received honorable mention. White Plains Resident Recommended for West Point

White Plains resident John A. Peeples was one of four nominated in the Hudson Valley by U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) to attend national military institutions. The United States Military Academy at West Point will have the final say on whether they will accept Peeples to their school.

Late Taxes

Late payments for the second half of city and school taxes are due Feb. 1. If taxes aren’t paid within a month after their due dates—first half of city and school taxes July 1, late date Aug. 1; second half Jan. 1, late date; Feb. 1, and county and sewer/refuse April 1, late date May1—interest gets added each month.

The penalties are a one percent increase per month. If school taxes aren’t paid by Feb. 20, 5 percent is applied to your school tax plus interest.  There is a $2 charge for delinquent notifications. For more information call (914) 422-1248.
