WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — JetBlue Airways has a plan to return to profitability, but it will come at a cost for Hudson Valley air travelers, according to a new report.

The NYC-based carrier will drop a key route out of Westchester County Airport, according to The Points Guy's Zach Griff.

The airline will drop service from Westchester to Charleston, South Carolina. The move is part of the airline's "JetForward" plan to return the carrier to profitability.

"As part of our JetForward strategic plan, JetBlue is focused on building a network that best serves our customers and supports our long-term success," the airline told Griff. "Recently, we made some network adjustments in certain markets, removing some underperforming flying from our schedule, allowing us to redeploy resources, including our popular Mint service, toward high-demand markets and new opportunities. In the coming weeks, we will announce how we will redeploy this capacity, including into our European network, providing even more travel options for our customers."

In addition to the end of Westchester to Charleston service, the airline is trimming service to a handful of popular travel destinations.

Westchester's loss might be Long Island's gain. Earlier this year, JetBlue began offering service to three Florida destinations from Long Island MacArthur Airport.
