The following statement was submitted by the state Department of Transportation.
Motorists are advised that beginning Sunday, June 23 , the New York State Department of Transportation will be conducting various lane closures in both directions on the Sprain Brook Parkway between I-287 and the Bronx River Parkway for paving operations, between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Weather permitting, the closures are expected to take place until further notice. Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the work area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including work zone signs and flaggers.
Travelers are also reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of the driver’s license.For real-time travel information, call 511 or visit www.511NY.org.
