Man's Attempt to Steal Bike at Wal-Mart Fails, Police Say

The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A West Harrison man wasn't terribly creative as he tried to steal a mountain bike from Wal-Mart this weekend, police say.

Store security told police they caught the 53-year-old man simply wheeling the $88 bike out of the front door without paying, just before 3 p.m. Saturday.

He didn't get far. Security stopped the man just past the main entrance and called police who arrested the man and charged him with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
