Sigma Health Rehab, one of the leading complete post-acute care rehabilitation companies in the northeast operating in 45 Centers Health Care skilled nursing facilities, returned to Rivers Casino in Schenectady, New York, for its annual retreat, which took place from September 17th through the 19th, 2024.

This year’s retreat highlighted important advances in therapy patient care, education, and auditing. Special sessions included a speech therapy demonstration on Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing. Like the other years, special awards were handed out. Still, the two moderators of the retreat were Erica Davison, Sigma’s Corporate Rehabilitation Educator and Reimbursement Specialist, and Richard White, the company’s Corporate Rehabilitation Director of Education and Clinical Practice.

One exceptional downstate New York Director of Rehabilitation, Jaqueline Turenne, won this year’s Sigma Split Award. This award goes to a Director who covers and oversees more than one site. Ms. Turenne oversees rehabilitation therapy in the 200-bed Martine Center on Tibbits Avenue here in White Plains, as well as the 448-bed Beth Abraham Center in the Bronx. According to Sigma’s Vice President of Therapy Services, Michael Forzano, Ms. Turene was in great company with her fellow nominees. Still, after many discussions with the Sigma leadership team, her choosing was carefully selected.

Like so many of our Directors, we have so much confidence in Jackie as she covers two of our biggest of buildings in our popular downstate New York region,” said Forzano. “Also, like the other nominees, she has enormous responsibility and workload, and Jackie always volunteers to help out. She has always been extremely dependable and highly motivated to help others. She fully thrives in two of these environments that challenge her.”

The Split Award also defines the individual who is energized by the idea that they can impact more than one therapy team. While they may not be on-site at either of their facilities all the time, they work hard to create an environment where the employees still feel supported and engaged. A major strength is a person’s communication skills, whether with the rehabilitation team, their regional, or the interdisciplinary team members.

Congratulations Ms. Turene and to her fellow Sigma nominees Brian Reese (Albany Capital region), Chris Besson (Adirondacks region) and Jamie Argiropoulos (South New Jersey region).
