Those mourning the loss of 21-year-old Jonathan Storm Johnson of White Plains—who was found shot in the abdomen in his car on March 18—have erected a shrine in his memory around the tree where his car crashed, in front of 44 Dekalb Ave. See our gallery for photos.
The Journal News reported that police said they believe the incident may be drug related, and that 20 bags of packed marijuana were found in the car. They also reported that those who held a vigil at the shrine Tuesday night say Johnson—who attended —was not involved in drugs or violence.

A cigarette that was flicked into a flowerpot started a fire on a rooftop porch at 129 North Kensico Avenue at 3:48 a.m. Wednesday morning. Someone driving by called emergency services on their cell phone and reported seeing sparks and flames coming from the roof.
Five companies of the , about 17 firefighters, extinguished the flames within an hour. Those living in the home where inside at the time of the fire, but were not displaced by the incident.

City residents will vote on the budget on Tues., May 17 from noon until 9 p.m. In addition to the budget, voters will select candidates to fill two seats on the board of education—currently held by Board President Rosemarie Eller and Board Member Randy Stein. The seats have three-year terms, that begin on July 1.
If you would like to run for the school board you must be a US citizen, 18-years-old or older and be a resident of White Plains for at least one year. You must submit a petition with 100 qualified signatures or more, by April 27.
Registration for voters who are new to the city or aren’t registered for general election, takes place on Sat., April 30 from noon to 5 p.m. at. Absentee ballots can be applied for by calling 914.422.2071.

Archbishop Stepinac High School students and the school’s band marched in New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17. The young men also marched in White Plains’ parade on March 12 and in Yonkers’ parade on March 6. See our photos.
