The White Plains Common Council will hold a special meeting at Mon. April 11 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the 2011-12 proposed budget, including revenue from various city departments. Click on the PDF for the agenda.

According to LoHud.com, a lit cigarette that fell on an outdoor landing, and ignited flames that spread through the kitchen and attic caused the March 28 fire at 24 Grant Ave.
Two police officers—Derrick Montiero and Jeff Park—entered the house around 9 a.m. to notify the inhabitants of the fire and woke-up sleeping Pace University students, who are now living on-campus or have made other living arrangements—LoHud.com reported. is raising awareness of the dangers of drunk driving, and is hosting with a fair on Wed. April 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the hospital’s Brown Villa Porch, the outpatient department.
The “Fatal Choices,” fair will host a booth with DWI and alcohol awareness information, as well as a slide show presentation. The event is open to all, and even offers information on alcohol treatment programs. Call 914.997.5779 for more information
Take your little ones on a hunt through Stew Leonard’s for Easter eggs. At 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wed. April 13, parents will be given a map and bag to collect eggs from the store’s costumed characters.
Egg prizes include candy, stickers, DVD’s, toys and activity books. Kids will also get a set of bunny ears at this free event. Stew Leonard’s, is at 1 Stew Leonard Drive in Yonkers.
The Presbyterian Rest for Convalescents—also known as the Kennedy-Duncan Residence, and even better known now as the at 69 North Broadway—will be added to the New York State Register of Historic Places. According to an announcement from Assemblyman Robert Castelli, the 3.5 story Tudor revival home was built in 1913 by local philanthropists Susan Duncan and Emma Kennedy.
