As if the parking situation in White Plains wasn’t brutal enough, the City is looking to increase parking ticket and other fees in 2011-12 to bring in more revenue, “standardize its ticketing,” and reduce the need for parking garage office workers.
According to The Journal News, the City’s parking department is proposing to raise overtime fees to $10—instead of gradual fines of $2 to $10—as well as parking permit fees by 15 percent. Basketball Tournament on Wheels
Westchester County will host the fourth annual youth wheelchair basketball tournament on Tues. April 26. A team from Cerebral Palsy of Westchester will face-off against another from the Westchester School for Special Children. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., the game starts at 6 p.m. The event is free, parking is $5. Doors Call 914-995-2958 for more information.
City Delays Newspaper’s FOIL Lawsuit
The City’s lawyers have requested an extension until May 13 to respond to a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) lawsuit filed by The Journal News. Both parties will appear in court before May 27, according to the newspaper’s story here. The Journal News is suing the City to release documents related to the White Plains Ethics Board investigations into former Mayor Adam Bradley. Click here for background information on that story.
The White Plains Common Council will discuss the budget at a special meeting at 6 p.m. Mon., April 25. There is also a special meeting scheduled for Thurs. April 28 at 6 p.m.
