Police: Bar Purse Snatcher Charged With Felony

A man who police say snatched a patron's handbag and walked out of a White Plains bar faces a pair of felony charges.
Bonifacio Torres-Martinez, 21, is charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies.
After turning her back her the handbag in on Mamaroneck Ave. at about 3:44 a.m. on July 8 a woman told police she turned around and noticed the bag was missing. A security guard told police he spotted a man walking out of the back of the bar with a woman's bag a few minutes later.

The security guard provided a description of the man, and police spotted Torres-Martinez, who matched the description, nearby at the intersection of Waller Ave. and E Post Rd. Police say Torres-Martinez admitted to taking the bag and dumping it nearby.
A police K-9 was used, and the bag was discovered in a rear lot at 107 Mamaroneck Ave. The bag was worth about $20, but contained $67 in cash, a $600 iphone and a Visa card.

Torres-Martinez, of 36 Russell St., White Plains, was held for court without bail.
