Police: Electronics Thief Caught Near Bronx River

The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Bronx teenager attempting to steal video game systems from the  was arrested while trying to escape across the Bronx River, police said.

While working with another suspect, police say the teen snatched security keys from behind the electronics desk at the department store at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The two suspects took two Nintendo DSLs and two Sony PSPs from behind a glass case before leaving the store without paying, according to police reports.

A store manager called police, who quickly found the teenager hiding nearby, close to the Bronx River. While approaching the suspect, police say he jumped into the river and tried to escape.

The teen didn't make it far and was arrested and charged with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor. 

Police are still looking for the second suspect.
