Police: Landlord Uses Paint-Thinner on Tenant's Car

The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

A landlord caught vandalizing a tenant's vehicle while he was moving out during an on-going dispute faces felony charges, police say.

Police say a tenant was in the process of moving his things from an apartment on 7 Oakwood Avenue in White Plains Sunday morning when the incident took place. While the tenant was dropping off his belongings at a new residence, police believe Alfonso Vivar, his landlord, showed up and began spraying paint thinner around the tenant's vehicle.

The victim's girlfriend saw the incident take place from inside the apartment, according to arrest reports.

Police say the tenant and landlord had been feuding before the incident. When the tenant returned and noticed the paint thinner he called police.

Vivar, 37, of 51 Hall Avenue, was charged with one count of criminal mischief, a felony.
