Police: Man Caught With PCP Tries to Eat Stash

Police say a Queens man tried to eat a small stash of laced marijuana as they approached him near the intersection of Orawaupum St. and Chestnut Hill Ave. Saturday night.

Steven Wortham, 44, was holding the drugs in his right hand at about 11:50 p.m. when an officer approached him, police say. Officers later found a bag of marijuana they believe was laced with PCP on the ground next to Wortham and believe he ingested the same drug, according to an arrest report.

Wortham was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree, a misdemeanor. He was processed at police headquarters and later released.
