Police Nab Alleged Gold Chain Snatcher
The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.
Two city residents, who may be involved in a citywide crime spree, are facing felony robbery charges for allegedly ripping a gold chain from a 28-year-old’s neck on Wednesday.
The male victim, who was not injured in the incident, told police around 4:44 p.m. that he was forcefully robbed in front of 10 Robertson Ave. and that the assailants fled the scene.
Police canvassed the area and quickly found one suspect, 25-year-old Lateef Outlaw, in the neighborhood. A second suspect, 30-year-old Richard E. Lewis, was found about an hour later in the back of 188 Fisher Ave.

Police did recover the gold necklace and said that both of the alleged suspects are “known to the Department and have extensive criminal records.”
“The investigations into these two individuals are continuing,” said a press release from the White Plains Department of Public Safety. “Detectives believe that these individuals may be responsible for some similar crimes that have occurred recently in the city.”

Both men have been charged with two felonies: robbery in the second degree and conspiracy in the fourth degree. Police said additional charges are expected and that both are being held for arraignment.
