Police: NJ Man Impersonated a Con Ed Worker

A New Jersey man police say posed as a Consolidated Edison employee in an effort to get into a White Plains home has been charged with criminal impersonation.
Police say a resident on North Broadway immediately shut his door and called police on Feb. 2 when a 22-year-old man told him he worked for Con Edison and needed to come inside for a meter reading.

The 22-year-old was leaving the building with another man when police arrived at the scene a few minutes later. Both men were taken into custody for questioning.
Police determined that neither man worked for the energy company and charged the 22-year-old with second-degree criminal impersonation—a misdemeanor—and held him for court.
