Police: Purchase Woman Arrested For Shoplifting

An $8 pair of earrings a Purchase woman snatched from Nordstrom Rack last week led store security guards to an even bigger stash hidden in her handbag, police say.

A security guard stopped the 20-year-old woman at about 9:11 p.m. on Aug. 7 after noticing her trying to steal the earrings, according to an arrest report. When security searched the woman's bag, police say they found a bundle of clothes valued at about $370. The woman later admitted to trying to take the clothes from the store at 7 City Place in White Plains, police say.

Police charged the woman with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. She was processed at police headquarters and released on bail.
