Police: Shoplifter Uses Daughter's Stroller to Steal Clothes

A White Plains woman faces two misdemeanor charges after police say she brought her daughter with her while she attempted to shoplift from Sears.
Police believe the 27-year-old woman walked into the store at 100 Main Street with her 2-year-old child in a stroller at about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday. The woman then went into the jewelry section and placed four earings and three necklaces into her baby's bag, according to arrest reports.

The woman then grabbed various clothing items and placed them next to her child in the stroller.
Store security stopped the woman as she exited the store and called police. Police believe the woman tried to steal about $568 worth of merchandise.

The suspect was charged with misdemeanor petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child. She was booked and processed at police headquarters and held for court.
The child was placed in the custody of a family member.
