Police: Youth Placed in Cop Car Kicks Out Windows

A White Plains youth faces a felony charge after police say he kicked out the rear windows of a police cruiser and escaped custody through a window.
Police say the youth, whose exact age was not disclosed, was being questioned about the theft of a bike from a home on Van Wart Aven. at about 8:46 p.m. on July 3. When the teen became violent and agressive with police, he was handcuffed and placed in the back of a cruiser, according to an arrest report.
From the back of the vehicle, police say the teen used his feet to kick out both rear windows and then moved his handcuffed hands to the front of his body. With his hands now more mobile, police say the youth crawled out of the left-rear window and tried to escape.

Police quickly caught up with the youth and discovered he had suffered several cuts during the escape attempt. The youth was hospitalized and then charged with criminal mischief, a felony, and petty larceny, a misdemeanor.
He was hald at Woodfield Cottage.
