Robison Promotes Environmental Justice Initiative on Earth Month

Consumers Who Convert to Geothermal Could Save as a result of new rebates in certain areas

PORT CHESTER – April, 2024 – Robison is urging consumers interested in converting to cleaner geothermal energy to take advantage of new rebates just announced by New York State.

New York State announced on March 27 in time for Earth Month that it wanted residents in “underserved” communities to share in the opportunity to convert to clean energy and was offering additional rebates to customers in those areas. It’s part of New York’s Climate Act, an initiative to reduce carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2030.

“This is a great time to convert to geothermal,’’ said Dan Singer, President and CEO of Robison, Westchester’s Premiere home comfort company. “Even if you are not in the areas targeted for these special rebates, New York State and Con Edison are still offering substantial rebates on conversion to geothermal energy. Not only is this the environmentally conscious thing to do, but it can save consumers on their home energy bills.’’

Geothermal energy uses heat radiating from the earth to both heat and cool homes.

Homeowners in Westchester including those in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, White Plains, Elmsford, Mount Kisco and other communities could receive up to $45,000 when converting to geothermal. Even residents who do not live in targeted areas can receive up to a $35,000 rebate. This is in addition to a 30 percent federal tax credit and a $5,000 state tax credit. A full list of communities being offered the special incentives can be found here.

Singer said that Robison sent a letter to its customers this week alerting them to this opportunity.

“We think this makes particular sense for customers with aging systems that are not running as efficiently as they should be since they may need to replace them in the near future,’’ he said.

Robison, which offers a variety of home energy solutions, is now in partnership with Geothermal Works to offer consumers the latest in geothermal installations.

Robison teamed up with the New Rochelle Geothermal company in December, to offer waterless geothermal, a groundbreaking technology that is 20 to 40 percent more efficient than water-based geothermal systems.

“Waterless Geothermal has several advantages over standard geothermal including, less digging required to install, higher heating capacity and lower operating costs,’’ said Singer. “We are always looking for the best options for our customers.”
