Sam Ash Music Stores Closing All Locations, Including White Plains
It's the end of an era as the 100-year-old family business that was started in Brooklyn closes its doors for good.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The memories will live on, but a beloved, 100-year-old business is closing all of its locations nationwide, including the White Plains location on Mamaroneck Ave.
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce that all Sam Ash Music store locations will begin store closing sales today," the company posted on social media on May 2. "This unfortunate news also presents a fantastic opportunity for great deals across our premium selection of musical instruments & pro sound equipment. We will also be offering specials on samash.com during this time. Thank you for allowing us to serve musicians like you for 100 years. With much love and deep gratitude, The Ash Family."
The company that described itself as "the largest family owned music retail company in the world, supplying you with the largest selection of music products you could ever want" will soon no longer exist.

Initially, in March, the company planned to close 18 locations, that would help save the other stores, but it since decided that all 42 locations will close by the end of July, due to competition from online retailers.
"A lot of this has been the move to online shopping," Derek Ash, whose great-grandparents opened the first store in Brooklyn in 1924, told The New York Times. "There are so many choices, and to maintain a store with that much selection is very difficult."
