Scorching Heat to Hit City

It's going to be disgustingly hot, so prepare yourself and avoid dangerous health risks. The heat and humidity that has been blamed for as many as 22 deaths is upon us.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is issuing an "Excessive Heat Warning." This type of warning is issued when the humidity and heat are going to make it feel like it's 105° or more. The Excessive Heat Warning is in effect from noon-8 p.m.

Officials are also issuing an "Air Quality Alert." An Air Quality Alert means that air quality will reach unhealthy levels. Officials are suggesting that people stay in air-conditioning during the afternoon and early-evening hours. Poor air quality can aggravate asthma, cause shortness of breath and throat irritation. The Air Quality Alert is in effect from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

For today we will see mostly sunny skies and a high around 96°. The heat index will be around 105°.
