Smashburger Opens; Temporary Commuter Lots Open at Playland, Kensico; and Grace Church Hosts Concert Series

Today: Temporary parking lots have been set up at Rye Playland and the Kensico Dam Plaza for commuters who normally use Metro-North Railroads’s New Haven Line. Read more about it here.

Tuesday: The White Plains Library is hosting its Job Club discussion series Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Career counselors Ginny Ruder and Rose Macom will lead the ongoing weekly job club include writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for an interview, using the Internet and social media with the library's resources to conduct a job search and tips on developing a strong professional network. It is recommended that people attend the entire series, but participants can come when they are able. The White Plains Library is located at 100 Martine Ave.

Tuesday: “Downtown Music at Grace” series is hosting pianist David Kim for a performance of the works of Liszt, Debussy, and Beethoven at noon . Kim has been heard in concert with the Syracuse Symphony and appeared on Vermont Public Radio and WNYC in New York. The performance will take place at Grace Episcopal Church, located at 33 Church Street in White Plains.

Wednesday: The White Plains Library is hosting a poetry slam and open mic  at 6:30 p.m. as part of its "1st Wednesday" series. Slammers should bring one original poem of up to 3 minutes. Registration closes promptly at 7. The event is co-hosted by local poet and slammaster, Eric Zork Alan. Refreshments served. Friday: ANDRUS invites you to join them for the Annual 'Light Up the Night' benefit dinner on Oct. 4. In 1928 John Andrus created a living memorial to his beloved Julia Dyckman Andrus by opening this campus as an orphanage where children in need of a sanctuary could find care and hope for a brighter future. ANDRUS has been a proud provider of programs and services for children and families at 14 sites throughout Westchester County and the tri-state area. Every year, we reach over 2,500 children and families with a broad spectrum of preventive and restorative services for families and their children from birth through adolescence.
