The Great Escape: A Farmer’s Market Dish and Glass of Wine

 Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school Saturday. Your tweens take tap on Wednesday evening. And now it’s your time, so take it! Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier. 

This week’s Great Escape will take you to: an evening of fresh farmer’s market dishes paired with local wines

Grab the girls and head out for a night of decadently delicious dishes, paired with a glass of wine (or two…maybe three if you’re not driving).

Thursday nights at The Lounge at in White Plains is “Best of Hudson Valley" night, where chefs create dishes from farmer’s market ingredients, that are paired with rye, whiskey, or wine from local producers.

On Thurs., March 24, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Prospero Winery of Pleasantville will unveil their 2009 vintage Cabernet Franc—made from vineyards in Sonoma, Calif.—and three other wines. Chefs will cook up dishes to bring out the wine’s robust flavors.

The Cabernet Franc pairs with a lamb duo, with lamb chop and lamb polpetta. The Tapestry Riesling goes with a mushroom cappuccino with parmesean foam. The Cremosa Chardonnay is for the hamachi with avocado mousse and meyer lemon, while the smoke duke carpaccio is paired with Cabernet Sauvignon.
