1.) Good Counsel Put to "The Challenge"

2.) Acting Mayor Asks City to Support Japan

Acting Mayor Thomas Roach expressed his heartfelt sympathy for the victims of the recent natural disaster tragedy in Japan, and has asked city residents to consider donating to The Japan Society, The American Red Cross, The International Rescue Committee, AmeriCares or Save the Children.  Click on the PDF for more information.

White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations (WPCNA) and White Plains Concerned Citizens for Open Space (WPCCOS) are conducting a mayoral debate where the city’s three candidates—, also the common council president; local businessman and former NFL superstar , and local realtor and former White Plains Common Council member —will answer questions from you.

Send topic suggestions and questions to debate@wpcna.org by 5 p.m., Thurs. March 17.  Candidates will also have a short Q&A session with the audience after the debate, to be held Wed., March 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Auditorium. Click here for more info.

4.) Save-a-Life Saturday

In honor of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ Save-a-Life Saturday, the American Red Cross will offer free CPR and first aid training all over the country on Sat. March 19.

Free classes—to learn CPR, controlling external bleeding, how to treat wounds and managing shock—will be held at the campus, at 350 Main St., at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. These non-certification classes are 45 minutes. Call 914-946-6500 x503 to register or click here.

5.) Final Farmer’s Market of the Season

The Westchester County Center will hold their last indoor farmer’s market of the season on Sun., March 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Choose from more than 30 vendors offering wine, cider, bread, cheese and meats, while you enjoy original music by Blues Mothers.  Click on the PDF for a list of vendors.
