Trooper Arrested For Issuing Falsified Tickets: District Attorney
Prosecutors said the state trooper even issued a traffic ticket to someone who was dead.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — A New York state trooper was arrested after being accused of issuing falsified traffic tickets, including one to a person who died prior to the ticket being issued.
Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah said Thursday that Edward Longo, 34, of Yorktown, was charged with 32 counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, felonies, and eight counts of official misconduct, misdemeanors.
Rocah said that Longo, while on duty and employed as a state trooper, issued the 32 tickets and supporting depositions containing false statements and false information without having performed traffic stops or observing traffic violations on eight different occasions between May 10, 2021, and Oct. 2.

Prosecutors said the multiple individuals who were issued tickets were never subjected to traffic stops. One of the persons had died before the date the ticket was issued, according to authorities.
The falsified tickets and supporting depositions were submitted to the Troop K Hawthorne barracks in Mount Pleasant where Longo was assigned.

He was placed on administrative leave in November and was arrested Tuesday.
Longo is scheduled to be arraigned in Mount Pleasant Justice Court Feb. 16.
Rocah said she commended the New York State Police for referring this case to her office and demonstrating their commitment to accountability and transparency.
“Integrity in law enforcement is paramount,” she said.
