Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: 9/11 Serve + Remember

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

9/11 Serve + Remember
Volunteer New York!'s 15th Annual 9/11 Serve + Remember community-wide day of service honors the spirit of service with a full day of family-friendly activities. Volunteers can make literacy kits and fleece blankets for kids, donate blood, and even learn CPR. Space is limited and registration is required.
Date: 9/11 from 12-6 p.m.; multiple opportunities

9/11 Community Clothing Sorting
The Sharing Shelf is seeking volunteers to assist with its clothes-sorting project for the annual 9/11 Day of Service. This is a great opportunity for new volunteers to join its volunteer team, whether they are looking for a one-time opportunity or an ongoing commitment. All volunteers will be trained to sort clothing. Volunteers must be 18+.
Date: 9/11 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Twilight Dinner
Rockland Community Farm Network is hosting its First Annual Twilight Dinner! Inviting more than 150 community members, this fundraising event will help recognize those within the area who have made a positive impact on farming, agriculture, and education. Volunteers are needed to assist as servers and bussers for the event.
Date: 9/12 from 4-7 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.

Sunday Funday Buddies
JCC Mid-Westchester's Sunday Funday program is an all-inclusive recreational and social-skills development program for young people ages 3-21 and who have developmental disabilities. The program engages participants through art, music, gymnastics, creative movement, active play, and supported social play. Volunteers are needed to serve as a buddy for Sunday Funday program participants.
Date: Sundays from 8:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
