Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Social Media Content Creators

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Technology Class Teaching Assistants
Neighbors Link, dedicated to the healthy integration of immigrants in Westchester, is currently looking for volunteers to serve as Teaching Assistants for its technology classes. Volunteers will help the teacher with setting up materials and supporting students with basic computer tasks. Spanish literacy is helpful but not required.
Date: 2/14 from 10-11:30 a.m.; multiple opportunities

Park and Garden Work Days
Volunteers help with pulling, digging, and cutting invasive plants around the park to make room for beneficial native plants that provide nectar, pollen, and berries for pollinators like Monarch butterflies, hummingbirds, and songbirds. Volunteers can also assist with litter and debris cleanup.
Date: 2/15 from 12-2 p.m.; monthly

Create Nourishing Meals
Help create nourishing meals from rescued food! Volunteers can assist with prep work, cooking, putting the finishing touches on dishes, portioning and packaging prepared food, and cleanup. Shifts take place throughout the week. Great for volunteers 16+.

Social Media Content Creators
Social Media Content Creators are needed to develop engaging content to support the Fourth Fridays program for LGBTQIA+ youth and their allies in grades 9-12. This role is great for tech-savvy high school and college students, as well as seasoned retirees and professionals.

Gift Shop Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to assist with selling items at the hospital's two boutiques on campus as well as help customers enjoy a bit of retail therapy.
